Static Screenshot
Static Screenshot is one of PixPin's basic functions. When you want to record any area on the screen, you can use PixPin's static screenshot. The captured image can be saved locally or pinned directly to the screen for your reference.
Ways to Trigger Screenshot
Shortcuts
By default, using the shortcut Ctrl + 1 can trigger a screenshot. You can set different shortcuts in the "Config" - "Shortcuts/Actions" interface.
By default, setting overly simple shortcuts, such as single-letter keys, is not allowed because this may conflict with shortcuts of other software. If you have special needs, you can check "Allow simple shortcuts" in the "Config" - "System" interface.
Notes for Windows System
When software with administrator privileges is in the foreground, shortcuts cannot be used normally. At this time, you can check "Start at login" and "Run as administrator" in the "Config" - "System" interface.
Tray Menu
Right-click (Windows) or click (macOS) the tray icon to pop up the tray menu. Click the screenshot item in the tray menu to trigger a screenshot.
Custom Area / Delay Screenshot
When you need to take a screenshot in a custom area or after a delay, you can open the custom screenshot interface via the tray menu or the shortcut Alt + 1. Select the screenshot area or set the delay time, then click the Apply button to trigger the screenshot.
TIP
You can use the "Preset" function of custom screenshot to save commonly used screenshot areas or delay times for convenient use next time.
Tray Icon Trigger (Windows Only)
Clicking the PixPin tray icon can also trigger a screenshot. If you feel it is easy to accidentally touch, you can change it to middle-click or double-click in the "Config" - "System" - "Taskbar Tray" interface, or turn off the function of triggering screenshots via the tray.
Command Line Screenshot (Windows Only)
When you want to trigger PixPin's screenshot function via other programs or scripts, you can use the following command to trigger a screenshot:
shell
PixPin.exe -r "pixpin.screenShotAndEdit()"PixPin.exe -r "pixpin.screenShotAndEdit()"When triggering a screenshot via the command line, PixPin must be started in advance, otherwise the screenshot cannot be triggered.

PixPin supports automatic recognition of UI elements/windows on the screen. When you need to capture a specific UI element, you can enter the screenshot interface via the shortcut Ctrl + 1, then move the mouse to the UI element/window to be captured. PixPin will automatically recognize the position of the UI element/window. At this time, click to perform subsequent operations, or double-click to capture to the clipboard. When selecting UI elements, you can also switch to parent/child elements via the mouse wheel to facilitate selecting more precise UI elements.
If you do not need automatic UI element recognition, you can turn off "UI Detection" in the "Config" - "Screenshot" interface.
macOS currently does not support UI element detection, only window-level detection.
Color Picker

- After enabling the shadow function, when the mouse moves to the button or the shadow settings panel, the screenshot area will show a preview effect.

After selecting the screenshot area with the mouse, you can click the text indicating the screenshot range in the toolbar above the screenshot selection box, and then enter the width and height of the screenshot in the pop-up dialog box.
