Mosaic / Blur / Smart Erase

When you need to hide sensitive information in an image, you can use the Mosaic, Blur, or Smart Erase functions:

  • Mosaic: Divides the image into small blocks and replaces the entire area with the average pixel value within the block, creating a classic pixelated effect.
  • Blur: Achieves a soft blur effect through smooth transitions with surrounding pixel values.
  • Smart Erase: Automatically identifies background textures based on region boundaries, maintaining natural background transitions while hiding information. It is especially suitable for solid color backgrounds or scenarios requiring more aesthetic processing.

Interface and Operation Steps

Operation Flow

  1. After taking a screenshot, click the mosaic button in the toolbar.

  2. Select the hiding mode: Mosaic / Blur / Smart Erase.

    Mode Selection

  3. Select the drawing tool:

    • Brush Mode (Left): Adjustable brush size, suitable for smearing irregular areas.
    • Rectangle Mode (Right): Quickly select a rectangular area.
  4. Drag the mouse on the image to select the area to be processed:

    • Brush Mode: Smear along the mouse track.
    • Rectangle Mode: Select a rectangular area.
    • After releasing the left mouse button, the selected area will immediately apply the mosaic/blur/smart effect.
  5. Adjust effect intensity (Mosaic and Blur modes only):

    • Use the slider to adjust intensity: Small < ----------- > Large
    • The larger the value, the more obvious the processing effect.
  6. For the rectangle drawing tool, you can click and switch to different modes at any time.

  • Red Circle: Mosaic effect (1 = Low intensity, 2 = High intensity)
  • Blue Circle: Blur effect (1 = Low intensity, 2 = High intensity)
  • Green Circle: Smart Erase effect

Smart Erase Effect

Smart Erase has no intensity adjustment and will automatically perform smart filling based on the background.

Tip

If you want to fill hidden information with a solid color, ensure that the boundary of the selected area is also a clean background to avoid including other elements or noise.

Mode Effect Comparison

The following examples show the processing effects of the three modes in different scenarios (Red Circle = Mosaic, Blue Circle = Blur, Green Circle = Smart Erase).

Handwriting Scenario

Processing Tips:

  • If you want Smart Erase to present a clean background effect, avoid including too much noise in the boundary when selecting.
  • If you want to maintain the natural transition of the background texture, you can appropriately include surrounding background elements when selecting the boundary.

Annotation explanation in the figure:

  • Green Circle 1: Brush mode smearing effect.
  • Green Circle 2: Boundary avoids white blocks to achieve clean background filling.
  • Green Circle 3: Boundary includes white blocks to simulate the original background texture effect.

ID Card Scenario

Smart Erase can maintain good pixel transition and background consistency while hiding text, making the effect more natural.

WeChat Chat Scenario

Smart Erase will automatically adapt to the surrounding background according to the different selected boundary areas to achieve different filling effects.

Erase Effect Annotation explanation in the figure:

  • Green Circle 1: Only select text (Boundary is green, algorithm identifies and fills with green).
  • Green Circle 2: Select part of the text in the text.
  • Green Circle 3: Select the entire chat bubble (Boundary is black, algorithm identifies and fills with black).
