Privacy Policy

Effective Date: November 26, 2025

Depth Pixel LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Pixpin desktop application and the website https://pixpin.com (collectively, the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclosure, and safeguard your information when you use our software and services. By accessing or using our Service, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide better services to all our users. The types of information we collect depend on how you use Pixpin.

A. Information You Provide to Us

  • Account Information: You can use Pixpin without an account. However, if you choose to register for a Pixpin account (e.g., to access subscription features), we collect your email address.
  • Customer Support: If you contact us for support, we may collect your email address and the content of your communication.

B. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Pixpin desktop application, we automatically collect certain device and usage information:

  • Device Information: We collect specific information about your device, including the operating system version, unique device identifier (Device ID), and Internet Protocol (IP) address.
  • Usage Data: We use a self-hosted analytics system to collect anonymous data on how you interact with the software (e.g., feature usage frequency) to help us improve user experience.
  • Crash Reports: We use a self-hosted instance of Sentry to collect crash logs if the software encounters an error. These logs help us fix bugs and do not contain your personal content.

C. Payment Information

If you purchase a subscription (Pixpin Pro), payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe.

  • We do not store or process your actual credit card numbers.
  • We only retain a secure token provided by Stripe to verify your subscription status.

2. How We Handle Your Content (Hybrid Processing)

PixPin operates on a "Hybrid Architecture" to balance privacy with advanced functionality. How your content is handled depends on the specific features you use:

A. Local Processing (Default)

For core functionalities, your data never leaves your device:

  • Screenshots & Pin Data: By default, all screenshots and pinned images are stored locally on your hard drive.
  • Standard OCR: Basic Optical Character Recognition (OCR) operates entirely offline on your local device using local libraries. Your images are not uploaded to the cloud for standard text extraction.

B. Cloud Processing (On-Demand Advanced Features)

Certain advanced features require server-side processing power. Data is only transmitted when you explicitly trigger these specific actions:

  • Advanced Recognition Features: If you use Text Translation, Table Recognition, or LaTeX Formula Recognition, the relevant image data must be transmitted to our third-party AI providers (e.g., Baidu, Tencent) to generate the results.
    • Data Retention: This transmission is transient. The data is sent solely for processing and returning the result.
  • Cloud Sync (Subscription Feature): If you are a subscriber and enable cloud synchronization, we will encrypt and store your configurations and selected content on our servers to sync them across your devices.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service (including verifying Pro licenses).
  • To process specific user requests for translation or advanced recognition via API integration.
  • To improve, personalize, and expand our Service based on usage analytics.
  • To detect and prevent fraudulent use.
  • To communicate with you, including sending verification codes or service-related notices (via email).

4. Sharing Your Information

We may share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf. These vendors are obligated to protect your data.

A. Infrastructure & Operations

  • Payment Processing: Stripe (Privacy Policy: https://stripe.com/privacy).
  • Hosting & Email: Alibaba Cloud (Virginia Region, USA) for server hosting, data storage, and system emails.

B. AI & Data Processing Providers

To provide specific advanced features, necessary data (such as image snippets you select) may be transmitted to the following providers:

  • Baidu / Tencent / Alibaba: Used strictly for Translation, Table Recognition, and LaTeX Formula Recognition.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others.

5. Data Storage and International Transfers

Depth Pixel LLC is a company registered in Wyoming, United States.

  • Location: Your personal data is primarily stored and processed on servers provided by Alibaba Cloud located in Virginia, USA.
  • International Transfers: Please note that when you use features like Translation or Table Recognition, data may be processed by third-party providers located in China (e.g., Baidu or Tencent). By using these specific features, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer for the sole purpose of providing the requested service.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access and Correction: You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and ask for corrections.
